Can someone please help me find a way to travel from Mexico to the Bahamas WITHOUT going through the US?

All US and Mexican airlines connect through Miami to reach Freeport, but since my Mexican boyfriend does not have a US visa, and they have eliminated the transit visa option, we have to find a way there without going through the US. Yes , there are flights from Havana Cuba to Nassau in the Bahamas .
$200 + dollars is not cheap , considering it is not that far away.
That is really awful that you cannot transit in the U.S.
