Is there a way to book hotels in Mexico and pay “prices for Mexicans”?

I read on the forums that the prices for the resorts in Mexico vary wildly if Mexicans order them vs. Americans. We’re planning a vacation in Puerto Vallarta in a few months. Does any one know of a way to book the resorts there and pay “Mexican prices”? Someone on the forum said that they are a third of what we typically pay from the States.

I just could give you some tips for Playa del Carmen.
We have a Forum for any question and everybody is very helpfull.
If you look for good and reasonable food check our HP.

What you heard is nonsense.
Prices are the same for everyone and you are just as well of to talk to a travel agent and make sure you tell them what you want specifically.
In fact you are more likely to get a better deal as the high end hotels are full of foreign tourists and that is where their market is.
I am not saying Mexicans do not have money but the vast majority travel to the west coast on bus excursions and stay in modest accommodations.
Yes, there can be a difference in price.To assume it is a “Mexican vs.American price is too simplistic.Hotels like any other business want to make as much money as possible and if occupancy is seasonally down they may negotiate the price of a room.Mexicans are “born to bargain” and will almost always ask for a reduced price.Americans are used to paying whatever the clerk or the sign or the tag etc.says.It is a law in Mexico that all hotels must post their room rates in plain sight so you should never pay more for a room than the posted price.I can almost guarantee that you will find it nearly impossible to talk the a hotel clerk down if your Spanish is anything less than fluent.If you are going to book by phone you might get a Spanish speaking friend to make your reservations for you. The easiest and most polite way to ask for a price break after the clerk gives you a room rate is to simply ask them if there is anything (rooms) less expensive available.(tengo un cuarto mas barato?) If they say no, then let it go or look somewhere else.Bargaining is typically a very subtle and polite “game”in Latin America and because most Americans don’t understand the subtleties they usually end up making Latin people angry.When I’m in P.V.I try to avoid the Zona Dorada altogether and instead stay in a quiet,clean family run “Mexican” hotel in a residential area.($35 a night)
Why not view this as an opportunity to learn to speak Spanish.
